OSC extends blanket relief providing additional proficiency options for distributing alternative mutual funds

On February 24, 2022, the Ontario Securities Commission published OSC Rule 81-507 Extension to Ontario Instrument 81-506 Temporary Exemptions from National Instrument 81-104 Alternative Mutual Funds (OSC Rule 81-507), which provides an 18-month extension of Ontario Instrument 81-506 Temporary Exemptions from National Instrument 81-104 Alternative Mutual Funds (the OSC Blanket Order).

The OSC Blanket Order provides MFDA dealers with additional proficiency options for distributing alternative mutual funds.

The OSC Blanket Order will cease to be effective on July 28, 2022, and OSC Rule 81-507 will extend the relief provided for an additional 18-month period from July 29, 2022 to January 29, 2024.
