Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) – Proposed Amendments to MFDA Rule 1.2.5 (Misleading Business Titles Prohibited) – Notice of Withdrawal

  
The MFDA has published a Notice withdrawing proposed amendments to MFDA Rule 1.2.5 (Misleading Business Titles Prohibited) (the Proposed Amendments). The intent of the Proposed Amendments was to respond to investor confusion by establishing minimum proficiency requirements for Approved Persons who wish to use the title “Financial Planner”. The Proposed Amendments were published for public comment on October 27, 2016. The MFDA is withdrawing the Proposed Amendments as various regulatory initiatives are underway in this area.
