This plenary panel will examine key international developments in the capital markets and their implications for Canada, especially in the areas of systemic risk, enforcement, market structure and investor protection.

Proactive Enforcement This panel will focus on the OSC's enforcement priorities, including emerging markets investigations, illegal insider trading and bringing cases before the Ontario Court of Justice, and also discuss the role of technology in securities law enforcement and the use of the public interest jurisdiction.

Boards of Directors: Evolving Expectations in Corporate Governance At a time when boards of directors face rising public expectations, this panel will explore issues such as regulatory and investor pressures on directors, the tension between changing board responsibilities and the demand for greater shareholder involvement in corporate governance and the appropriate role of corporate law and securities law in imposing obligations and expectations on board directors.
