OSC Announces New Commissioner Appointment

TORONTO - Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) Chair and CEO Maureen Jensen is pleased to announce the appointment of Raymond Kindiak to the Commission as a part-time member, to serve a two-year term.

Commissioner Kindiak has more than 25 years of capital markets, operational and legal experience in corporate restructuring, financing and the acquisition and divestiture of public and private companies. Over the course of his career, he has worked in a variety of industry sectors including technology, resources and manufacturing. A member of the Law Society of Ontario, he has chaired tribunal hearings for the Canadian government on pension issues.

“We welcome the breadth of experience Ray brings to the OSC,” said Chair Jensen. “His involvement in the capital markets from various perspectives will be beneficial as we advance a regulatory framework that maintains investor protections and responds to evolving business and market demands.”

The Commission has two related but independent roles. It serves as the Board of Directors of the OSC and performs a regulatory function, which includes making rules and policies and adjudicating administrative proceedings.

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.
