OSC announces new Executive Director and CAO

TORONTO – Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) Chair and Chief Executive Officer Howard Wetston, Q.C., announced today the appointment of Maureen Jensen as OSC Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer, effective June 13, 2011.

Ms. Jensen is currently Senior Vice President, Surveillance and Compliance, with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), a position she has held since 2008.

“Maureen Jensen has strong people management skills and extensive experience and expertise in capital markets regulation, the financial services industry and the Canadian mining sector,” said Mr. Wetston. “Maureen’s leadership experience as an executive and her understanding of the OSC’s mandate and operations, the role of self-regulatory organizations and the capital markets in general will serve the OSC extremely well in our work to protect the public interest.”

Previously, Ms. Jensen held executive positions with Market Regulation Services Inc., where she served as President and CEO and Director from 2007 to 2008 and as Vice President, Market Regulation, from 2002 to 2007. From 1998 to 2002, she was a Director at the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Group, where her accomplishments included leading the integration of CDNX (now TSX Venture Exchange) into the TSX corporate structure in 2002 and developing the first strategic plan for TSX Group prior to it going public.

The OSC administers and enforces securities legislation in the province of Ontario. The OSC’s statutory mandate is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices and to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in capital markets.
